I am looking for a slim receiver and came accross the Onkyo LR552. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge with this receiver? Is their another model/brand that is slim and has a short depth that would be better?
Thanks

Dan,

I have a friend that bought an lr552 for his bedroom stereo/ht. It is a nice unit and decent power, and decodes all the surround formats. It also fits in tiny spaces and because it is digital, doesn't give off much heat. These were big decision points for my pal, because it was going into a fairly small space in his room.

I don't like the spring clips on the back for the speaker wires though, although given it's tiny size I don't know how they could have gotten posts/bananas into it.

I would be careful with what speakers I paired it with because it seems, to me, that those digital amps accentuate the high end somewhat.

Go listen to it and see what you think. Also, if you need small size (or like going digital) check out the panasonic sr50 or 75.
