Hey there.

I could really use some help picking out a sub for my home stereo. I have a NAD C-740 Stereo Reciever paired w/ two Paradigm Atom bookshelf speakers. I listen to mostly eclectic / classical / alt.rock music at moderate volumes. I'd like something small (like an 8" woofer?) that my wife won't complain sticks out like a sore thumb. I have about $400 to spend, and don't mind shopping around to find the right deal.

An important feature for me is that the sub have stereo line-level inputs/outputs (RCA interconnects) and a built-in crossover. I want to run the PRE-OUT from the NAD to the sub, allowing the low frequencies to get filtered out by the sub and the mid/high frequencies returned to the NAD's MAIN-IN. My local audio shop recommended this setup. Do you agree?

Thanks in advance!
