GENERALLY speaking if you were comparing dollar for dollar:

1. Lexicon
2. Marantz
3. Harman Kardon
4. Onkyo
5. Yamaha

Of course Pioneer and Rotel should be on the list and it would depend on your budget and music needs (two channel/Mulit).

I would rate Arcam top of the game in music and even in home theater ... but since I only did compare Harman kardon to Arcam I can tell you that acrcam is way ahead of H/K for music.
