Thanks to an earlier post, and alot of research I think that I have decided to get an HK AVR-135 reciever and Athena ASB2 speakers. But I have questions about Speaker blowout.
I have heard that there are two ways to blow a speaker. First is to have speakers that can't handle the wattage of the reciever and the second is that if the reciever distorts the sound at high wattage, then the tweter will blow, not from too much wattage, but from too much distortion.
So, even though the AVR-135 is a high current reciever, it's only 40 watts per channel. I'm wondering if that's too low for the speakers (15-150 watt) that I want to buy. Any advice? And, is there any terminology that I would see on a specifications page that would tell me when a reciever would start to distort the sound?
