Is there any significant reason to go with one or the other for a sub. I'd like an 8 or 10 inch that would be tight and not boomy for music. I'd like to be able to actually hear the tone of the upright bass for example. I'm looking at Velodyne and Athena because they are at the limit of my budget. |

I love my Athena AS-P400, very clean bass. |

it would depend on what system you got going but i would go for Velodyne because all they do is make subwoofers |

Although I am a big fan of Athena, I feel that their subwoofers are not as good as Velodyne. |

Athena sounds very nice. But, hands down there is absolutely no comparison with the velodyne. |
