I thought graphic equalizers went out in the eighties - along with the ghetto blasters and the bad hairstyles.

What do they do for your sound?

Make up for deficiencies in the recording... which are all mixed by sound engineers you and I never met?

Make your Amp work harder for the same DB Reading on your SPL Meter because it is having to drive all Freq. to the same DB level. You had better have a good Amp at least double the rating of your speakers.

I've found it. I've just aquired one. One question: Can an equalizer shorten the useful life on an amp, or speakers in any way?
