Is a HDCD player worth it in terms of the quality of sound and quantity of CDs? I'm assuming this is available on CD players only- not universal dvd players.

Or is it better to go the Universal Player route and take advantage of DVD audio/SACD instead?

...just to be a little more specific

I have an old JVC DVD player and an old JVC CD player. The cd player plays cd's significantly better than the DVD player. I am fine with the quality of DVDs from the DVD player. I would like to upgrade my music experience by either replacing the CD player with an HDCD plyer or replace my DVD player with a Universal player.

Please advise

Brian

I have around 10 HDCD-encoded CDs and I hear a more enjoyable and detailed sound through it. I sold my old CD player (with HDCD) and I will replace it with something which also has HDCD.

You can also look into the Denon DVD-2910 universal player because that one has DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, and HDCD as well.
