I am building a music only system c/w TT & CD (refuge from Kids and home theatre) My HT comp. are HK AVR8000, Denon 2200 Multi, Polk LSi15. My other components are 14 yr. old Sony STR AV720, 3 yr. old Pioneer Elite DVD (CD comp) and older Polk 5JR+ monitor bookshelf spkrs. I am thinking of the VPI Scout TT, using my existing Pioneer DVD, and Polk 5JR's, and adding a new Phono pre, and possibly a new Amp as well. Should I go big long term and decide to use the Sony untill I can afford more, or will the sound be that bad that I won't appreciate the Scout. I want to spend about $3,000.00 now but could upgrade some stuff in another year or so. The VPI c/w Catr. is about $2,000.00 so that leaves me with $1,000.00 to spend and I need a Phono pre. Help? (Room is 20' x 40', ceiling vaults away from speakers - starts at 10', ends at 20')
