I just purchased the samsung hlp 5085w and am looking to purchase a receiver. Because of certain discounts I can get I have limited my selection to onkyo or hk. Any input you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also looking for speakers and am l;ooking at infinity, onkyo, or polk.

Thanks

Depends how you like your sound.

Warm (Soft) to Bright (Shrill)

My personal opinion is that bright sounds great but comes with the downfall of listener fatigue and limits you to having it very loud for short intervals. Bright makes explosions... explode.

I prefer a warm sound because I like to always have my system very loud.

I own HK and Polk personally. Definitely meets my tastes.

Only way to go is to audition each speaker with the different receivers until you find the sound that suits your preference.
