I'm new here but love this msg board. It's a wealth of info!

I'm looking for a new receiver in the ~$300-$500 range. Here's what I have:

--Fairly avg to small size living room (no idea the dimensions offhand)
--Hitachi Rear Proj 51' HD TV
--DirecTV with Samsung SIR360 HD receiver
--Two older (around 8-10 yrs) Klipsch floor speakers (I love them) that I use as front speakers for 5.1 surround sound. Recently bought Klipsch satellite speakers & subwoofer for 5.1.
--Cheap/crappy Samsung all in one receiver/dvd that I want to replace.

I want 7.1. I like the crispy (I think referred to as bright) kinda tingy sound. This will be used for about 75% TV, 10% DVD, 15% Music. Was looking at the Yamaha HTR-5760 & RX-V650 but reviews here do not sound promising. Looking for suggestions..Sounds like Pioneer, H/K, Marantz (if the price is right), Sony may be what I should look at??

Thanks for your suggestions!

You should buy Yamaha or Denon. The HTR-5760 would be a perfect unit for you. Nice and tingy, bright, cold and clinical. The Denon 1805 would most likely be to your liking too. The Klipsch speakers will also match perfectly for the sound you are looking for.
