Thanks for the quick response to my first question...My carver C5 remote appears to be able to operate a tuner as well as a cd player as there are commands on the remote...Would a tuner and cd player have to be a Carver brand to function via my preamp remote? Also, there is a 1/8 jack at the back of my preamp that reads external remote sensor. What is this jack for?...Regards....Tom

I'm not that familiar with the remote for a C-5 but if there is a button on it that is marked "set", "address" or something similar that would put it in a lerning mode then it probably can learn codes. Otherwise it is meant for Carver eqipment only. The remote sensor jack is used to trigger the on off functions of accessories. I wouldn't be concerned about it as it's function doesn't relate to the performance of the equipment.
